If you’re not already familiar with Kylie Woon’s work, you’re in for a treat. Admittedly, Kylie has become my photography obsession recently. Her work is completely magical. From self portraits, to landscapes and everything in between, Kylie manages to capture the most otherworldly and the most intimate qualities of her subjects simultaneously. You can get completely lost in her photos. Kylie was kind enough to share a few words about herself and her work exclusively for YM&C readers:
“I am a young and fairly new digital artist from Singapore. Just under three years ago, I took up photography with no expectations. I never realised the world it would open up for me. My love for creating photo manipulations stems from my desire to bring a bit of magic into ‘real life’ scenes. Inspired by escapism, shyness, and daydreams, I want to connect to the escapist in all of us.”
Kylie’s work really does allow you to escape. One of her recent blog posts titled “Contacting Dreams” really resonated with me. I love that she can pair her photograph with a beautiful and simple piece of writing, and each helps define the other.
Oh, and we can’t forget. HAPPY HALLOWEEN from Kylie!
