Kyle Thompson is such an amazing talent. His self portraits are some of the most interesting and unusual photographs I’ve seen. Here is some background on Thompson… from Thompson:
“I started taking self portraits a little over a year ago. I was interested in photography but am terrible at talking with people, so I ended up using myself in nearly all of my photos. I started to spend several hours a day going alone through empty forests taking self portraits with my cameras timer.”
The personal nature of Thompson’s artistic process is completely captured in his work – his photos are so intimate. And he only started a year ago? How is that possible?
Over the past few months Thompson has started a project on Flickr where he takes a photo every day for a year. Good news, right? You will not be able to peel your eyes away. This reminds me of Julian Bialowas’ 365q. I think for any artist or creatively inclined person, committing to make something new each day is such an interesting undertaking, because it inevitably pushes you to grow. I have really enjoyed watching Thompson’s work evolve, and I hope you all will too!
