Walk The Moon – “Tightrope” [Video] Author:   ·  October 9th, 2012

A few days ago, Walk The Moon premiered their new video for “Tightrope” (the latest single off their self-titled debut album, Walk The Moon). To introduce the video on twitter, the band wrote: “Face paint, animal noises, paper trees, dancing giraffes. We bring you TIGHTROPE, the video – directed by Ari Costa“.

The joy and excitement these boys exude in their performance is completely infectious. They may or may not have induced a full-on dance party at the YM&C HQ (WARNING: you will not get work done while listening to this song). The video is pure fun, and it has everything we love about Walk The Moon: craziness, color, and excessive amounts of face paint (is there such thing as too much face paint?) And, let’s not forget…amazing musical talent. The song’s warm melody is completely addictive.

So I finally found a video that sums up the daily happenings of my brain.

  • Gigi Choy

That was so interesting! The hands, the puppets, and the fire in the middle … it’s like my little imaginary world. The tattoos stood out to me as well. The drums were the best part of the song though.

These guys have been on my playlist since their album came out and I don’t think I will ever get tired of listening to them.
I never thought it is possible to become that much obsessed with someone’s music that fast. I fell in love with them in the twinkling of an eye. It’s just that they have so much energy and drive in their songs you just can’t help it! Even with the slow one – ‘Iscariot’ – it just goes right into your heart. (and your hips because, man, the beat!).
I have to say I’m really glad I discovered them when I did, because it
was a very hard time in my life and these guys really helped me to get
    through it.
I was lucky enough to even see them live (even though I had to go Finland, cuz I’m from Russia). And trust me these guys will blow your mind. It was amazing, I’m pretty sure it was the best night in my life (I think the fact that I got to talk to them has A LOT to do with that :) ). So if you liked them and you have a chance to see them live – don’t even think about not going!

It was nice to see you finally posted this article, because I think that more people should know about Walk the Moon.

    Hand-Puppets!..hooray

This is my favorite post. Not only is the song just awesome but the music video is just amazingly done. It sure does make you energized, diffidently, the song to listen to while waking up when you really don’t want to wake up. Just play this song and you will be dancing in your pj’s and grabbing a hair brush! The song will also be stuck in your head for the rest of the day! It’s the type of song that if your sad, it makes you happy no matter what, it just has that impact. I am actually dancing in my chair listening to the song while I write this :) This song is defiantly going on to the most played song on my i-pod!

Keep on dancing & Smiling :)

“(WARNING: you will not get work done while listening to this song)” Should have heeded this, uni work has hit the backburner now and there is no such thing as too much facepaint!

You know how people say not to use your favorite song or band as your alarm because you’ll end up hating it? Well, this is not the case… If I wake up with this song, I’ll wake up with a smile every day! I’m going to change KingCharles for WalkTheMoon as my alarm now!

I almost pick this one as my favorite! The song is okay, but I just adore the video.
It made me smile the whole time I was watching it.
Who wouldn’t feel happy with colors, animals, hands and a good music all together?!?!?!
    Great post!

  • Mackenzie

Whoa. I think I love this even more than Florence and the Machine’s Spectrum. This is like exactly how my mind works haha love love love

  • Emily Diaz

Walk the Moon I found out about you first watching something on MTV, they were playing “Anna Sun” and what a coincidence I find you here on YM&C!! And now look at you all over commercials, boppin’ around! Its like all my favorite bands are being recognized for their genius! Favorite post right now! Thank you YM&C for showing off one of my favorite bands, love to see these guys! Definitely some good dancing/jumping music!! (Also, lovin’ the album cover!)

  • Alex Bohan

One of the reasons I love YM&C is that it introduces me to so many new groups and artists. I hadn’t heard of Walk the Moon before but their sound reminds of bands I love… (The Killers, The Magic Numbers) But their sound is also totally different! Can’t thank Charlie enough for all these introductions…

  • Dreamer2408

This is one of those songs that reminds me of days gone by. I love any song that can instantly bring me back to certain moments of my life. Whether it be because of the rhythm or the tempo or just the sound of the singer’s voice and this song is one of those incredible songs. It gave me chills and it brought me back to the days of my youth. I love it!

  • Genny Kyngsley

I don’t often dance. There’s a cloud of shyness that prevents me from just letting go and moving with the music. However, “Tightrope” has been added to the list of songs that make me break through, tap my feet, bob my head from side to side a little, and finally get up to spin round my room singing about love and life. It’s sitting at the top of my playlist now, next to “I Believe in Love” (Lily Collins) and “I’m Gonna Be” (The Proclaimers). The chaos and quirkiness and color and energy and life of the video made me smile despite the looming stress of school. I have a sudden urge to go find my furry wolf-eared hat and paint celtic designs on my face. Finding new, wonderful music is so wonderful, thank you for providing me with at least a third of my favorite songs. Definitely my favorite LISTEN.

    -Love, Genny
P.s. I’m listening to more of their music… and it’s still amazing. I’m dancing!

This song made my day a hundred times better! I listened to it, and then had to go do something, and I found myself singing it, and I had only listened to it one time. It’s upbeat and definitely makes me smile, and that is why I love this.

  • Cole VanSon

“Tightrope” by Walk The Moon is my favorite in the Listen category. This is my favorite because this song and video are good vibes. SUCH GOOD VIBES. Makes me get up and dance and love life. Such a creative and fun music video.

  • Charlotte

I can’t even begin to describe how this song makes me feel! It’s so light hearted and happy, but not completely meaningless like a lot of popular music is these days. It’s not about parties or drinking, it’s about a feeling! I think we can all relate to the feeling that our heart is burning up, and how it can make you feel like dancing, laughing or crying…maybe even all of them at the same time! The video is incredible as well, it’s full of ordered chaos, and so creative. It’s all just put together so well, and really reminds me of what real music is; the kind that makes you stop, feel, and LISTEN.

  • Wietske

This is my favourite post in Listen, because after seeing this post I immediately wanted to listen to more of this band. Thightrope made me want to dance around my room. It’s so energetic and it made me smile.

  • Charlotte Sharman

I first heard about Walk The Moon over the summer
when their name kept on popping up all over the internet, but I never really
bothered to look them up on YouTube. When I first watched the video for
Tightrope on YM&C I felt as if I was a little kid again, from the face
paint to the puppets. Wouldn’t it have been incredible to be in that video? It
looks like they’re having the time of their lives! It left me smiling and I was
filled with elation from the vibes of the song and video. This was my first
time listening to Walk The Moon and I love discovering new songs, which is why
I love YM&C. The song has been stuck in my head for days, and you were
definitely right about not being able to get work done whilst listening to this
    song!

  • Jennifer

As to why this is my favorite post in the LISTEN section is due to the fact that Walk the Moon performed at my school a few months ago. I had not heard of them before listening to their performance, but that night I just wanted to dance and jump up and down in happiness. This post reminds me of that performance and makes my ear smile, so to speak! : )

  • Mirla

I could explain how I love each post on this category, because the bands are really great. But, further on loving this song, I love this video! Reuniting this two things, I can see myself at the streets dancing like that, or getting together with some friends and doing the same. Can you see that too? I’d watch this video a million times, it’s so funny! I’m a step away to imitating this guys. That’s completely contagious!

  • Monique

This is definitely my favourite post in the listen section. Why? You guys have said it perfectly, pure fun! The colour and just all out video is insane and I completely love it! I had never heard of them before this post and for that I thank you guys. I’m completely hooked :)

I am truly inlove with them.

  • Lui

I love them so much. Just saw them in Germany on Friday. Awesome concert, they rocked the hall.

  • dougie

Found this band through a previous post on YM&C when I was going through a bad time, and automatically fell in love. It’s physically impossible (for me anyways) to not feel happy or happier whilst listening to them. It’s just complete and utter fun.

  • http://twitter.com/mlledeejay Deejay

This music video is very creative, I just love it!

  • SG

I saw them live a couple of weeks ago. Seriously, they exude joy on stage. It was so refreshing. And they’re so good live, as well. Love them!
