La Fête des Lumières is the French Festival of Lights, and it is one of the most important events of the year in Lyon, France.

The Festival of Lights in numbers:

4 million visitors
80 light projects
8 million candles sold in Greater Lyon

The event is very well known in France, even worldwide: lots of tourists come to Lyon just to attend the festival. The program hasn’t been released yet (it will be available in November), but here you can see pictures taken in previous years. Can’t wait for an even more spectacular event this year! Is anyone going?

I actually remember learning about this in my French class… (I also remember it being one of the only things other than food that I actually liked learning…) I would love to be able to experience this someday.

There are installations everywhere in the city + some interactive installations & parades! From December 6 to 9, everything’s getting hectic: there’s so many wonders to see

Wow! Amazing. Love attending festivals. Hope someday I’ll be able to attend this one. It’s so cool that there are so many light festivals around the word like the ones in India, Taiwan and Thailand. All festivals about lights but different in execution.

I’m going because that’s where i live ! Every year it’s soooo great ! All the places you’re used to see everyday, during 3 or 4 nights become awesome ! Really interesting and so inspiring ! Can’t wait to take pictures with my new nikon ! Vive la fête des Lumières et vive Lyon, c’est vraiment génial qu’on en parle ici !
