I knew it was going to be a good weekend when I pulled up to FYF Fest and found FREE street parking for my car (that I may or may not have mistakenly thought was towed when I walked up and down the wrong street for 10 minutes to find it later that evening – I digress) 5 feet away from the front of the festival. In L.A., when the parking gods are on your side, that’s usually the first sign of a good day.
YM&C attended FYF Fest in Downtown Los Angeles to interview some of our favorite bands. FYF, in its 9th year, is a 2-day music festival showcasing the best of indie/underground music. In an era where the internet killed the video star, FYF Fest separates blog hype from real talent. The performances were amazing and the vibe of the festival as a whole was just EVERYTHING.
We interviewed everyone from Father John Misty, to Future Islands, to Simian Mobile Disco, and more! We’ll be rolling out our features next week, but here’s a recap of images from some of our favorite performances from Warpaint, Sleigh Bells, and M83.
You were good to us FYF. Had the time of our lives! Already counting down the days until next year’s festival… wonder if my parking spot will still be there?
