YM&C loves bringing you closer to our favorite bands and introducing you to new ones, so we jumped at the chance to see Echocell play The Troubadour in Los Angeles last week. If you’ve never heard them, listen to their newest single Babylon ASAP (it’ll blow your trip-hop lovin’ mind).
The set started off with lead singer Belinda Kazanci completely owning the stage in her full-body catsuit; anyone who can pull that outfit off definitely has a special place in our book. The night continued with generous amounts of electro-pop energy as Echocell kept the crowd alive. The crowd was enthralled but also entirely curious about what was hidden underneath the oddly shaped blanket onstage.
Before the final number began, the mystery was finally uncovered (literally) and Kazanci’s secret musical weapon was revealed. Because what concert is complete without the accompaniment of a tiny decapitated doll head instrument?
Echocell is most certainly one of those bands whose live show is as compelling as their recorded music.
Their latest EP is available now.
