    On this special anniversary I’d like to share the poem I wrote for YM&C a while back:

    You, Me and Charlie
    Why oh why do I love thee??
    Let me count the reasons…

    I love thee for the magick you have taught me to believe in.
    I love thee for your love, kindness and heart of gold within.

    I love thee for awakening my imagination, a wonderland now found.
    I love thee for your melody, there is no sweeter sound.

    I love thee for you ignite a passion to fuel my eager soul.
    And when my friends ask where I’ve been I say, “down the rabbit hole.”

    I love thee for your eccentricity, boldness and creativity.
    I love thee for you inspire the artist hiding deep within me.

    I love thee for you are unique, and continue to surprise.
    I love thee for your endless beauty, like a sunset or sunrise.

    I love thee for your love of life & adventures of many themes.
    I love thee for you encourage me to pursue my wildest dreams.

    Thank You for a great year! My year with You,Me & Charlie was filled with smiles and inspiration. For encouraging me to explore what’s deep within me. You truly set my world on fire! The other day I visited a museum that displays Art from the Group of Seven. For those who don’t know who the Group of Seven are they were Canadian Artists known for painting landscapes of Canada. While walking around I saw that there were quotes painted around the walls, that described the artists work. They were such beautiful quotes! Here is my favorite.

    Thank you for giving me inspiration when I thought I had lost all of mine!

I’m truly proud to say that I’m a Charlie since the first version of YM&C, because it changed my way to see the world and my way to treat people. It filled my heart with good thoughts and good deeds in an unbelievable way. I spent a whole year of my life trying to be as good as I could, because that was what you guys taught me to do. That was what you guys taught me was RIGHT to do.

    This is like a bottomless pit of inspiration and good vibe. There’s no way to enter in this site without jumping in a whole another world. It’s a parallel universe where everyone feels accepted enough to be who they truly are. So, once again, thank you very much. I’m just gonna leave here a screenshot of my first contribution to the site (February 7th, 2012).

    It’s been a year since you’ve started to open our eyes to the artistic world around us. It’s been only a few months since I’ve found this door and I don’t regret it for a bit.

    YM&C helped me accept my artistic side more and indulge in it, despite what people expect from me. It helped me to be me, the artsy, creative person that I really am. I’m still trying to come into my own, but I’m well on my way thanks to you all. Thank you, so much.

    What a year!
    I follow this wonderful place since the beginning. I saw it growing.

    I love art (whatever its form) that’s why I’m studying it. I want to thank you for having increased my curiosity and my culture about it. The artists on this site are so inspirational and amazing!
    I give my thanks especially Dianna for all the love she brings and YOU for spreading it. Then, thank you for allowing me to meet (in real) some Charlies with who I have the same mood and the same madness.
    That’s why THIS is so magical!

    I had a great pleasure to contribute for the second challenge and co-edit with Ninon for the Julie de Waroquier on this new YM&C. So why not add a new tab named “YOU”, “Charlies” or something like that and publish the best contribution of the day? Just my thought.

    I wish you from the bottom of my heart all the best – maybe an award! – and that this new year be as wonderful as a glass of champagne to celebrate this first year. :)

    well, First I would like to thank you Dianna for creating this amazing place where I honestly can get lost in all the time. Second I would love to thank you guys who are running YM&C for being so creative and inspiring. Third, YM&C mail are the only emails I don’t mark as junk, shhhh don’t tell anyone.

    you asked us to post pictures about this past year but Im sharing my story (I have sent this to Dianna already but I don’t know if you read it? so please fell free to skip this if you read it already teehee)

    erm, ok so last year just before YM&C lunched I was almost giving up on being an artist, I had people whom I cared about telling me that I could never make it as an artist and I will never do so I might as well just give up on it. *play some dramatic sad music here* hehe after that I tried but not that hard tbh because well its hard when everyone is putting you down, I usually cheated on the way I took sketches, like I would use a projector to project the image I want to draw on the canvas then take the sketch lol hey no laughing this is serious, I decided to sketch my first portrait without a projector! two to three days after that I saw Dianna’s post on her tumblr asking us about charlie and I submitted this picture I have attached below, the first portrait I sketched on my own was Dianna’s. Later on I remember all those mysterious things about charlie, the little eye on the note and the hints and such and I was genuinely interested in seeing what was it all about. I was actually waiting for the lunch date you posted and I logged on it as soon as you posted the link and there it was, my Dianna portrait under the Charlie section! I have to admit that I took probably 10,000 screen shots of it on all of my devices. It gave me a boost made me feel like my art was worth it, made me feel like I can make it. So I tried harder and harder, sketched for almost 10 hours a day and ate nothing but cookies and coffee (due to staying in my room and drawing all the time). I no longer care about the negative comments on my art and I always look on the bright side (psht I got featured twice mwahah)

    But no really, even when I draw now while Im in college I have people approaching me and telling me that Im a great artist and I have no one but you Dianna and the staff of YM&C to thank.

    A year goes by very fast!
    I remember being on vacation when the YM & C began, I came here every day, and the year went by, and my time was decreasing, and now I’m on vacation again, and again I realize how time flew!

    New things happened, I met new people, new adventures, 2012 was a electrifying year for me, full of new smells, many of them not so good!

    June 13, 2012 was the day of my rebirth. After a lifetime of suffering I had sex change surgery done from a male to female. That was my biggest accomplishment in my life. I have you to thank Dianna for helping me have the courage to be true to myself. YMC is a fantastic site open to all of us.

    Time passed very fast, because when I look back it seems like yesterday that YM&C began.
    Thank you my baby Dianna for YM&C to be real and allow us to be a part of creating, exploring, learning, having fun.
    My reaction to reading a new post or see Charlie Mail is the same as the beginning of when I saw the layout of the site, with all the photos and I read the first post. I feel happy to be here, thank you!!!

    I distinctly remeber the morning YM&C began. That night/morning was my first all-nighter of my junior year of high school, and I had no idea how I was going to make it through the day. But after finishing all of my homework I had about 20 minutes to spare, and when I saw that YM&C was up online, I took those 20 minutes to look around the site. I was inspired by what I saw, and because of those 20 minutes, not only did I make it through the day, I made it through the day with a smile on my face. YM&C helped me get through the rest of the year, too, even though it was one of the most difficult years of my life. I honestly believe that this website changed the way I think about the world, and about life, and it turned me into a dreamer. I have come a long way from that day exactly one year ago when YM&C first came into my life, and I credit YM&C with a lot of the positive parts of my transformation into a happier, more daring, more optimistic person. I have tried to give back to this amazing place by contributing some of my own ideas, but I know I can never give back as much as it has given me. So I just want to take this moment to express my thanks to Dianna, to the other editors, to everyone who has contributed in any way, to You, to Me, and to Charlie. I look forward to what YM&C has in store for all of us in 2013, and I am confident it will remain as magickal a place as it always has been. I am truly grateful for YM&C, and I hope everyone involved has had a fantastic day celebrating the anniversary of this amazing community. Happy Anniversary to the most magickal place on the internet!
